Debi had this one posted the other day, piggybacking on Nymeth, and it looked worth repeating. What follows is the American Library Association's list of the most frequently challenged books of 1990-2000. The ones in bold are the ones I've read at some point in my life. I will admit that some of these I read so long ago I would be hard-pressed to tell you why someone would want to ban them. If you really pay attention to detail, you might notice that none of the Stephen King books are in bold. I'll take your word for it that he's a decent writer; I've just never warmed up to what I've heard about his books or the movies made from them.

"Where's Waldo"?????
I can see where some of the books about growing up could promote birth control or something like that.
An interesting list; I haven't read as many on the list as you.
I have to admit that I don't remember some of the ones enough to figure out why people would challenge them either. But even some of the ones I've read recently enough to remember, I can't figure out. Like what on earth could anyone object to in The Bridge to Terabithia?!! Of course, I do keep assuming people are logical and rational and tend to use their brains.
You've read a pretty good chunk of those!
Number 41 rings a bell, we read that at school for O level Englist Literature. I then bought it with my pocket money.
